Arsenal v Aston Villa Live Commentary & Result, 22/09/2019, Premier League


Both teams have made just one change from the sides that last featured in the Premier League. Ozil drops to the bench for Arsenal, he’s been replaced by Saka. Meanwhile for Villa, Trezeguet comes into the starting XI, with Jota missing out on a starting place.

VILLA SUBS: Jed Steer, Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane, Ezri Konsa Ngoyo, Jota, Ahmed El Mohamady, Keinan Davis.

VILLA (4-3-3): Tom Heaton; Frederic Guilbert, Bjorn Engels, Tyrone Mings, Neil Taylor; John McGinn, Marvelous Nakamba, Jack Grealish; Trezeguet, Wesley, Anwar El Ghazi.

ARSENAL SUBS: Emiliano Martinez, Mesut Ozil, Lucas Torreira, Calum Chambers, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, Gabriel Martinelli.

ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, David Luiz, Sead Kolasinac; Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi; Nicolas Pepe, Dani Ceballos, Bukayo Saka; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Meanwhile Villa are 18th, with just four points from their opening five games and they drew 0-0 with West Ham on Monday, despite their opponents having a man sent off midway through the second half.

Arsenal are winless in their last three Premier League games, having lost to Liverpool, then back-to-back 2-2 draws, with Tottenham and then Watford last weekend. The Gunners led 2-0 at Vicarage Road last Sunday, but threw away victory in the second half, to leave themselves 10th in the table. However, they got back to winning ways in midweek, with a 3-0 success over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
