Osasuna v Barcelona Live Commentary & Result, 31/08/2019, Primera División

Four changes for Osasuna from the side that drew 0-0 with Eibar – Merida, Ruben Garcia, Sanjourjo and Brandon come in for Moncayola, Ibanez and Brasanac, while Marc Cardona drops out of the squad. Valverde sticks with the same team that beat Real Betis 5-2, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele all injured. A midfield three of Roberto, Busquets and De Jong means Rakitic has been on the bench for the third straight game.

SUBS: Inaki Pena, Arthur, Moussa Wague, Ivan Rakitic, Samuel Umtiti, Arturo Vidal, Anssumani Fati.

BARCELONA XI (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Nelson Semedo, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba; Sergi Roberto, Sergio Busquets; Frenkie de Jong; Carles Perez, Antoine Griezmann, Rafinha.

SUBS: Adrian Lopez, Roberto Ibanez, Sergio Herrera, Juan Villar, Facundo Roncaglia, Darko Brasanac, Jon Moncayola.

OSASUNA XI (4-4-2): Ruben Martinez; Nacho Vidal, Aridane Hernandez, David Garcia, Pervis Estupinan; Roberto Torres, Oier Sanjourjo, Fran Merida, Ruben Garcia; Chimy Avila, Brandon.

Osasuna last met Barcelona in a LaLiga fixture in the 2016-17 season – and it wasn’t pretty. They scored once and conceded 10 goals across the two games, seven of which came in one haul at the Camp Nou. They’ll be hoping for better today.

It’s been a positive start for Osasuna so far – one win and one draw since they were promoted as Segunda Division champions. In fact, they’re one point and three places above Barcelona in the table! The champions got their first points last weekend, responding to a shock defeat at Athletic Bilbao in the season opener. Nothing less than a win will do for Ernesto Valverde today.

Welcome to our live coverage of the LaLiga fixture between Osasuna and last year’s top-flight champions Barcelona.
